Preparation of a project and development of institutional partnership with the external page French Institute of Pondicherry, India (IFP).
The overall goal of the project is to prepare a long term research project and to develop cooperation between our chair and the French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP) in Tamil Nadu, India. The focus of the research project and the cooperation with IFP will be on the history of vernacular and practical mathematics in South Asia and Europe. To prepare the research project, the partners are identifying relevant researchers in India and Europe, locate relevant archival material, formulate strong research questions and a coherent work plan, and publish preparatory academic materials.
This initial project has been supported by a seed grant from the ETH and an external page Endangered Archives Project funded by the British Library, in which Roy Wagner and Senthil Babu from IFP have been the principal investigators.
